Dell, Windows 7 and DVD DX?

I have just received a free Windows 7 Upgrade from Dell, however, with Windows 7 the Power DVD DX is not compatible with Windows 7. It will cost me around £50 to upgrade. Is there anything Dell could do for me? It doesn’t seem exactly fair. Or do I have to put up with this and pay to upgrade so I can continue to watch blu-rays.

So you have Power DVD DX already installed on your machine, but this app isn’t compatible with Windows 7.

Well as you buy a PC with the software preinstalled, Dell are under no obligation to offer you anything other than your Win 7 Upgrade. Just because the sofware isn’t officially “supported” doesn’t mean it won’t work, but essentially yes; you will either have to upgrade, or find a freeware alternative. Are there no plugins for WMP12 to support BR playback?
