How can I set myself as administrator on work laptop?

I was just given a “new” used laptop for my work. When I got it they had me change my encryption log in name and password and my windows name and password, but unfortunately the laptop does not recognize me as administrator. I want to add my lynksis card so I can use with my home network when working from home, but it will not let me because of the administrator thing. It uses Windows XP. Help?

Select the start menu, then select “Control Panel”. from here go to user accounts then select “create new account”. Enter the name you want to set for the account and click next. At this point it should as you what type of account you want the new one to be. The choices should be “Computer Administartor” and “Limited”. just select Computer Administrator and continue.
